Who does this course?

There are many different kinds of students who choose to study TESOL at North Shore Language School. They have many different goals.


Some students:

•want to go to university to study for a teaching qualification. They choose to do the TESOL course as a first step. They want to explore teaching, learn theory and vocabulary relating to teaching.

•want to become English tutors and want to know the best methods of teaching

•are already qualified English teachers and they want to get professional development.

•are already qualified to teach other subjects and want to learn how to teach English (and sometimes they want to teach the other subject in English). For instance, one teacher was a math teacher in Korea and she wanted to be able to teach math and English combined).

•want to learn teaching because they are parents and they want to develop teaching skills to be able to teach their own children

•have the main aim of increasing their English level. They want to study an interesting course while they develop their English.

•enjoy developing their skills and like to do lots of courses to develop their own abilities in many areas. Many students enjoy a new challenge.

•want to improve their own confidence to interact and communicate with other people in an English speaking environment

•want to increase their qualifications and gain a certificate to show their achievement on their C.V. They want to be able to increase their employment opportunities in the future.

•are going overseas to do aid work or as missionaries

•are owners or managers of a language school and they want to fully understand teaching so that they can improve the quality of the school and the school’s teaching staff.


This course is suitable for many different kinds of people.
