The assignments are both theory and practical based.

All assessments relate directly to what is being taught during class time.

If you fail an assessment, your tutor will meet with you to guide you so that you know what is required to be able to pass. You will be given another opportunity to do the assignment using your tutor’s advice.

There are five major assessments in all which are designed to test different categories of skills in each case. They are:

1. Written essay/assignment on Teaching Grammar (Module 3) and the Communicative Approach (Module 4). This tests conceptual and cognitive skills. Assignment weighting: 10%.

Lesson design and activities/materials preparation which require students to create lesson plans for their teaching practice with a set of accompanying student activities and teaching/learning materials. This tests planning skills and hands-on production skills. (Modules 7 and 10). Assignment weighting: 20%.
